A leading figure in Japanese Western-style painting during the Showa era, Kiyonaga Itoh was the president of the Hakujikai, a Cultural Merit Recipient, and a Counselor to The Japan Fine Arts Exhibition. He was awarded the prestigious Order of Culture by His Majesty the Emperor in 1996.
Renowned for his bright and gentle painting style inspired by Impressionist techniques, Kiyonaga Itoh created many exquisite works, layering delicate lines and colors to achieve breathtaking beauty.
